I had a viral infection last year so last year my occ health nurse recommended a flu jab to me I had one and survived the winter with nothing more than a mild cold. I have had one again this year and neither of them caused any side effects.

I would ask if you can wait until after the marathon to be sure, if its like our occ health dept they will put it to one side with your name on it.

good luck for the mara & the flu jab

I had the jab one year, about 5 years ago I think, and I have never had so many colds and been so sick over an entire winter. Never again thanks.

I'm fit enough to fight off flu if I ever get it, anyway the immunisation they give you doesn't necessarily stop you getting flu. All they give you is the strain they *think* will be most virulent this year innit.

Having had flu in the past (yes the REAL one) I would rather be innoculated by a baseball bat round the head than go through that again. Get the jab.

Flu is horrible and dangerous if you have asthma or other respiratory conditions. If someone offers you a jab, take it and thank them kindly for it.

Had the jab on Thursday. Slight achy around where they injected me but no loss of strength in arm. No side effects for me. I wul dhave it on basis this year's vaccine includes the H1N1 strain (bird flu) which caused more problems than normal flu a couple of years ago
