Wokingham oh, we've torn that apart in the past in 1:48 we did a 2:12 there after a HM day before So Fleet is slightly rolling countryside then |

Mr. K.
Mick - I only mentioned Wycombe as I think Fleet is easier & I know you two have run Wycombe before. Did you send an e-mail to the Race Director about running next year? (Sorry but I don`t know too many people in Fleet & Church Crookham) As for Fleet v Reading.....I have done both & would say Fleet is seems more rolling but flatter; Reading (2010) http://www.fetcheveryone.com/route-211992 |

Signed up for this one as my first half marathon, very excited and just hit 13 miles on my LSRs in training earlier than I'd expected to (thanks to getting a bit lost!). It was recommended to me by one of my clients as having a flat route and a good crowd out to support.

Welcome Dean - stick around, there are (or will be) plenty of experienced runners on this thread.

Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to hearing plenty of encouraging tales! I've got the impression from elsewhere I need to make sure I leave a bit in reserve for some hilly bits towards the end.

I am in I have run it for the last 2 years, it has lots of small inclines, nothing to worry about.

In serious prep for this one as I so want to go under 2hrs this year. Came close last year with 2hrs 2mins but just failed! Started to throw some speed sessions in on the treadmill will some inclines too hoping it may help. Going to get a few 14/15milers in before Fleet to just so I know mentally I can go the distance. I find it hard to keep to pace in a race as I find I get pulled along easily. Any advice on how to avoid this?

Let your Garmin control you ( if you have one of course ) - they make a big difference to your training and race pacing, good luck.
