Sorry for the delayed posting. Completed Edinburgh in 5:22. First half was spot on schedule at 2.10 but sadly my ITB/knee issue flared up around mile 17 and had to resort to run/mainly walking the remainder. Just finishing was a great achievement and I am proud of how far I have come in a year and the biggest lesson i have learnt is to take it easy when I'm injured rather than pushing it. Contrary to a lot of peoples posts about the race I enjoyed it. A few more supporters would have been good but given the weather predictions I cant blame people for not wanting to stand around for many hours but those that did made plenty of noise. Till next year..... |

Mattdb, that being your time I'd be surprised if I hadn't spotted you at some point. I thought there was a decent number of supporters most of the way, except for the stretch out near the turning point. Tonight was my first run after the marathon (although I did complete a significant hike up the Old Man of Coniston at the weekend). By heck, my legs were tired. It didn't help that tonight's club run was possibly the longest on the calendar at 8 ½ miles but my legs were quite keen for me to give up at five miles. Fingers crossed, I'll recover my running mojo soon. I have new targets for the rest of the year, having scrapped all the time-based ones: I shall enjoy running and cycling. That is all. |
