If it's someone who did the same race they will have planted it in pretty much the same place as they picked yours from.

Yup - I did a race on Saturday - logged it yesterday, picked someones flowers, planted mine - and now someone else has come along and picked mine and left their own. Points galore. Brillyant

It makes uploading from a race a bit easier, rather than waiting for someone to upload, wait a day for the flowers to sprinkle coins, then upload yours to get the coins. Now everyone gets a shot

Inspired by the bug talk, I bought five last night at around 00:30 and I seem to have gathered 22 penalties off them so far. This has confused me a bit. I could understand if it was 11 different peoples "bug runs", but I've gained 20 points three times and 14 points times. None of them should be that high, nor should there have been time for three "bug runs". Ooh, started again, have an 8 and a 20 (again!).

Based on experience, the number of times you gain in each six hour period is linked to the number of players you're 'hitting' rather than the number of bugs you have. Not everybody has their penalties applied at the same time.
The last four entries in My Account read
CumbriAndy gained 4 in penalties2:00pm
CumbriAndy gained 17 in penalties12:50pm
CumbriAndy gained 9 in penalties12:40pm
SYSTEM gained 29 in penalties12:00pm
The same patern repeats irrespective of the number of bugs I own (three or four, usually) - so this month, in every six hour period my three bugs together are earning me 9 points from 'Player 1', 17 from 'Player 2' and 4 from 'Player 3'. I suppose that, in more populated areas, the bugs could hit two or more players at the same time andthe points would correspond.

I bought my first bug, which is now earning me 44 points each six hour cycle, or 176 points a day.
Buying another thousand and watchng myself shoot to the top of the leader board doesn't seem quite in the spirit of the game though.

We're in grave danger of overthinking all this - and I know I'm probably not helping
Each bug will earn up to 12 points every six hours per player who has their homepoint within a mile of that bug. So - the best plan for anybody still confused is to buy ONE bug, locate it just outside their home mile where it looks like it will have company and sit back and see what happens. Once you've figured out what is happening for a single bug, then its easy to extend the explanation for others.
