Wightvixen: many people take option 3 but choose whichever one suits you best.
PH: sandbagging again? I can't believe it is the 3rd of the month and I'm not even on the leaderboard!

Many people have similar issues and the answer is to do whatever works best for you

I'm surrounded by private land and my mile circle is crossed both by a river and the West Coast main railway line - I have no qualms at all about reporting bugs I cannot access legally or safely and its not uncommon for a single bug to need reporting two or three times before it lands somewhere accessible (which is not always conveniently on the route I have planned to clear others). The trick though is only ever to move bugs just before you run - they always move closer to your home so the penalties go up if you leave them where they land.

In my case, there is no value in moving my home point but there have been numerous others who have done so - this has the upsides and downsides you mention. Whether there is a net benefit or disbenefit depends, mostly, on how much you run really but do be aware that if you're in a well populated area (which I would expect the centre of any city to be) the likelihood of others running 'their' bugs into 'your' circle is much increased.

Running up and down parallel streets in order to clear coins is one thing; but passing the same van in every street for 7 consecutive streets might arouse suspision - he might have been out collecting coins - but I doubt it.

I have a similar problem actually in that half of my circle is in the city centre and there are always bugs there I cant get to, not without running around really early in the morning which just isnt my style ;)

Ive never reported them because technically I can legally and safely get to them, its just not entirely practical.

Wightvixen, Cumbria Andy says- it is possilbe to cope in a rural area. I too am surrounded by power stations railway lines private farming land and also currently one of the 2 main routes out of the village is flooded. There is no one else near me so all my bugs are mine. If the bugs are inacessible which is most of the time- I will not trespass as I hate it when people do that to me, I report them and yes usually they are then moved to inside the powerstation etc. So I keep reporting them till they land withn distance of rd or right of way.

My garmangles are rarely accessible - I report them but they do not come back. I get on my bike and steel garmangles from nearby areas with more roads.

I move home when I move. I go to Southampton a fiar bit and the General Hospital is a great place to pick up coins etc.

Thanks for your input. I'm going to move my area a bit, but not until just before I run tomorrow as the potential new part of my area is currently bug-ridden where I dumped a load yesterday! Strangely for a city, there are no other registered players within 2 miles of me, so no neighbours bugs to worry about, but I have noticed a couple of people triggering traffic lights all the same. Perhaps they work locally and run at lunchtimes. I don't think flowers will be a great deal of use to me as I only scatter them in any number on my weekly out-and-back long runs. As I have 3 of these in different directions which I rotate, I don't go back the same way for 3 weeks, no doubt any coins will be long gone by then. Luckily there seems to be no shortage of coins in Shirley which is my main haunt for shorter runs.

Like others I feel it is entirely reasonable to report bugs that are on private farmland and cannot be got by footpath as well as though that are downright dangerous to get. If a bug is accessible then it shoudl be left to be got, the points from a single one aren't that bad anyway!

I am going to have to report one that would have been accessible a few weeks ago though as they are putting in a new roundabout and closed the footpath on that side of the road. I'm not fighting with steam rollers even for Fetchpoint :-o
