Short of taking up open water swimming/canoeing/golf, there's not much I can do about those bugs other than keep reporting them!

There's only a couple of places that I can't get at, most of the inaccessible bits are small enough that the 80m radius comes out into an accessible bit. I have waved my garmin through a locked park gate to get a bug once though

Would they get squished? Or would I have to pick them up and then turn round and run a mile away from home?

When I cycle home from work any bugs I pick up are dumped/squished near work.* *except that I may be changing my home zone to work for February so the opposite would apply. Not as many players there means not as many bugs, and when I run at home (it's about 50/50) I can just collect other people's coins.
