I have an idea to help out the more rural runners or those that live next to lots of unreachable areas. I am sure this has already been thought of but here goes. When you report a marker as unreachable the system could record that location point and make sure that any future markers are not placed there. Thus over time you should not get any or at least fewer unreachables. I have no idea if this is possible but think it would improve the location of markers. I myself have a large school behind my house which is often filled with markers that I can't get so I report them all only to find them back there the next day. I have no knowledge of computer programming so am happy to be told this is a coding nightmare and to get back in my box.

Re Garmin Markers:

"you can only be credited with 5, but I think you get 100 points each for any extra ones."

Not sure if this is the case as I have 5 already and hit another marker this morning but didn't get any points for it and it's still on the map.

beanhopper, Yes, that would be nice, I have whole swathes I can't get near. Cows are dangerous :-)

Beanhopper - great idea - a kind of exclusion zone indicator thingy - would be useful here where much of area is woodland / farmland

It was mentioned before Beanhopper but the numbers game doesn't stack up. Holding all those points then the lookup before placing markers would be huge. Sure there'd be fancy ways of limiting the look up to conquer sized zones or some such but hard to do efficiently i think was what Fetch said :-s

I would really like it tho as I'm happy where I live but between the docks an the forth I probably only have half the area I can reach. But then, if everything was placed on the reachable areas I'd have it way easier than others as my markers would be more dense.

Anyways.... Nearly out the end of the bug infestation of my head an chest.... Hopefully get out tomorrow for a wee start to climbing back up the leader board :)

Ooo - hope you had a fabby birthday an now have a very clear head to get writing us lots more code to play with Lord Fetch :) cake

Right, route mapped for a second time and this time it worked so I've moved/squished all the bugs I was aiming for. A good haul - over 10,000 points plus I'm hoping for much lower penalties today. I don't think I'll ever be entirely bug free, but at least I've got rid of the closest ones :)

Guessed you might have got it uploaded. Some bugs just appeared down the road forcing a slight change of plan for today's lunch time run.

I'm really enjoying it! As most of my running is down public footpaths anyway and I'm not averse to a bit of a detour round grassed fields, there aren't too many places that I can't get at. I draw the line at fields with no footpath at all or with crops. Today, both my new bugs were, however in tiny pockets of inaccessibility about 81m radius, so i had to report both.

Since playing, I've discovered two or three excellent, runnable new footpaths and a field of alpacas. I'm having a great time! thanks, Mr F!

bizarre one this morning, uploaded my run from garmin didnt add any points or the much eluded garmin marker (that has always been in an out of reach place so far) in the end I re mapped the route on here and loaded the run, hey presto the points & marker have now been given to me :):):)

Unfortunately I am struggling with a hip & knee injury so running is not as much as normal so I'm being killed by all these bugs in my area. I will have to go on a bug collecting mission on Saturday and run as many of the blighters that I can out of town!!

reading back I use this game to add a bit of fun into my normal running, I dont get upset about not being on the leaderboard, I love having something to encourage me to go running in places I normally wouldnt run, I do live in a rural area so lots of the woods/field running can only be done on weekends but I still cant thank Lord Fetch enough for spicing up my running. I heart it
