I don't do a lot in my home circle, just cycle to work, parkrun (3 laps all in my zone!) and the odd evening jog on a route chosen by friends. I have a very disappointing minus score bugs seem much worse as I don't want to go up and down lots of residential dead ends on the way home...

If you've passed within the 80m circle of a marker you should have something in your account indicating such. If it was a jewel you would have collected it; rent marker you either take ownership or pay rent; relay move and maybe take ownership; flower picked; bug assigned to another player would be infected; bug assigned to you squished if you also went outside your home circle. If nothing happened then you probably didn't get close enough to the marker.
