Meglet, YP and Badger you are correct And I've dropped fetch a couple of fmails about it. If you use a turbo trainer and turn off the gps signal it will record the mileage and plant flowers at point 0,0 as it has no other postional data it defaults to 0,0, I believe it also does the same when using a footpod on a treadmill. If you have the gps signal on when on a turbo the flowers are planted at the location you did the turbo session which is usually your home point thus nothing appears in fetchpoint as its inside your home circle.
This does happen on a fair number of times during the winter when people train more indoors.

Forgot to add that I believe once planted they do not increase in value should you upload another turbo session and the session does not pick anyone else's flowers that are already there either, so the only points gained are those for the initial upload. I also believe that after about a week the flowers disappear anyway probably as part of Fetchpoints housekeeping routines.

Ah that's it then. There must be a few Fetchies with that as a home point, as there's bugs, lights and Goreillas there. But then why are there flowers?

Meglet not sure why there bugs lights etc at 0,0 and surrounding area, it is no ones home point as far as I'm aware otherwise flowers would not be planted. The reason for the flowers is that by recording mileage without any data points the system defaults these to 0,0. Therefore anyone doing a 10 mile turbo session with GPS turned off will have 20 flowers planted at 0,0

a case of good news / bad news after my lunchtime walk -
someone has moved away from the area, so I planted a couple of flowers :-)
I also moved a detonator, so those flowers will get blown up tonight :-(

So I am new to the game and wonder if there are obvious tactics I am missing. I have run 25 days in February and covered over 200 miles and I have scored about 850,000 points, so 8x behind the leaders. Now, I trust they are not running 1,600 miles so I am missing something.

As I see it:

Bugs: don't care about these. I loose maybe 5,000 points a day due to bugs but that is only 150,000 a month so a drip in the ocean. Same pretty much with rent markers, 100 points is not here nor there. The game has to be about collecting big points.

Coins do add up, but again not to the numbers that make the leader-board, so maybe 50k a day tops.

Flowers look good. Say I run 5 miles a day, 6 days a week. This is 3 miles outside my home and so maybe 7 flowers planted each and every day. Follow the same route and on day 2 you water the 7 flowers and plant another 7. Flowers mature in 6 weeks, so I have watered each flower 36 times and so they are worth 30k each, so 210k points a day. Big numbers, but that is 6 million, maybe make top 3 but have to run the same route each and every day.

What am I missing?
