I'm sure this has been answered before but -

what happens when I run in a place away from home where there are no coins etc? Obvious answer is "nothing", but does it continue to be nothing or does the fact that I have logged a run there trigger coins to appear in the future? (Probably not, but thought I would ask...)

It is interesting.... All this running gave me time to wonder whether I should take 'home' on holiday to Florida in April / May next year just to get some coins from any post mara runs I may do. An avoid any bugs who decide to invade while I'm gone :-o

I like Nightjar's suggestion, that traffic lights start to count against the owner's score if the owner doesn't pass through them, it wouldn't solve everything but it would certainly help cut out some of the 'not on my turf' approach

With the best before/expiry date with coins will that be visible when you click on the coin on the map? If not when will they disappear - 4am when fresh coins appear? I plan my routes the night before, and whilst I don't mind picking up fresh coins I would hate to think that I had gone out of my way up a cul-de-sac only to find that the 100 credit coin was no longer there...and with coins disappearing at 4am there is no time to check the map before setting out at 5.20am with map and head torch in place...sometimes I read what I write and wonder whether or not I'm taking this a little too seriously.

It will be an overnight thing - the server does all of its big jobs during the night when (most of) you are asleep :-)

The reason the bug penalties don't get updated during the night, is so people have a chance in the morning to move them, without having to attempt last minute night-time runs to shift them :-)

Apart from those of us who do stuff in the morning but only get to upload them in the evening...

(not a proper whinge, you can't please everyone, but I'll be annoyed if someone has shifted the coins I went through this morning while I've been stuck at work!)

Now to try to work out how to cycle home without going past the pile of traffic lights outside the Town Hall...
