Just catching up (I've had a busy morning writing an advertorial, sending out 8000 emails for a santa run, and writing my wedding vows!).

The number of markers on the map should drop off by Friday or Saturday. New coins and randoms are now created with a best before date, and will disappear if unclaimed within seven days. There are nearly 800,000 markers in the database at the moment, but that should fall to under half a million. I put that in place on Friday, so all coins create before then have Fridays date against them - give it a few days to work through.

I will look at all the suggestions regarding traffic lights and see what I can come up with. I like Nightjars idea that traffic lights turn against their owners if they don't run them regularly. It's been the hardest one to balance. I am definitely of the opinion that they shouldn't be something that deters people from logging their running... but equally that *not* logging your running to avoid penalties is not in the spirit that the game was intended either.

Hard to get it right, but really pleased at all the positive comments that people have come forward with too :-) :-)

I reckon traffic lights should not be mobile. they should be where they are put at the beginning of the game (fetch can use data to make them medium-usage places, not super popular and not really quiet either) and then their ownership can move between players as suggested but not their location. they just are where they are.

Btw - if you zoom in before trying to scroll, it will reduce the number of markers, and should make the map a bit more responsive.

A question for London players - are you finding that players near you are pushing bugs back into your circle? Is it a daily fight to keep them down?

Shelf life is a good idea - I've only been reporting inaccesible bugs but the coins were starting to take over some of the farmland round here!

If I report an inaccessible traffic light am I risking a new one appearing?

For traffic lights would it be feasible to have something like run through them four times rolling four week period rather than once a week to keep them alive to solve the holiday problem?

Another option I was pondering for traffic lights would be for there to be zones (a bit like conquercise zones, which is where I got the idea) - the owner can move them within the zone but not outside it, and ownership of the light can change -this would keep them a bit more spaced out than having it as a free for all. You'd still get lights on race routes, but they would be limited and would belong to someone who runs there regularly rather than being quite as opportunistic as they are now.

what about if a runner goes through a traffic light they swithch it off until someone comes through in the opposite / a different direction? That would then switch it back on again. Stops people sabotaging a race route.
