2 million points from 4 randoms within 1.5miles of my house. So glad I didn't cycle 20 miles to get to a flower field.

Lord Fetch, Sorry but I'm not sure the huge random's add to the game. Maybe if they went up to say 10000, that would be fine, but hundred's of thousands I think IMHO is too much.
Just my opinion mind.

The biggest random I've had is 50,343 points. I'm the lowest I've ever been in the table [680 atm] Luckily, I don't worry too much about that - I've never been able to get huge scores. I don't cycle, I'm a slow runner and there never were loads of coins around here. I still enjoy the game though. Rarely the same route run in a row

7 miles done for a total of 53101 coins. 8 bugs squished, one random hit worth -59. I don't think those at the top need to worry about me catching them up anytime soon!

22 miles today, and only one 'big' random (c300k). Can't say I care though, the guy in the lead is so far ahead that it doesn't really matter...

as a runnercollecting points in hope of climbing the leader board is...well...pointless! because I could never compete with the cyclists bashing out big miles on popular roads, plus living in the country most of the local markers seem to be located in fields into which I have no access....beginning to loose faith in this game

We should have 2 leagues - one for the runners and one for "others"

Although I can only speak for myself, I expect that what really winds people up (at least those who occasionally forget that this is just a game) is when they put in a serious effort (say a 10+ mile run) and only score a handful of points and someone else goes out to walk the dog to the corner shop and score 49 millions points.
With the new flower rules it should be easier to calculate appropriate values to ensure a more level playing field. Now I haven't thought this through properly - I'm hoping you'll contribute. And obviously there are a lot of variables.
But for a 'stay at home' runner who only runs in their 1 mile circle...let's suppose they run four times a week, clearing a 1/4 of the circle each time. Therefore they'd collect a coin score of: (Number of new coins a day) x (average coin value) x 7 / 4 or 7Cc/4
To cover 1/4 of their circle (pi/4 miles^2) they will have to run 10pi/4 miles (which is about 7 3/4 miles) - let's call it 7.5 to make the maths easier.
Therefore a run of 7.5 miles at home will score 7Cc/4 points.
But if this runner was to run straight out of their circle and then straight back they'd plant 12 flowers. If they were to do this a second time they'd plant another 12 and water 12. Assuming 250 points for planting, 100 for watering, if they were to do this 4 times a week then after 6 weeks a flower will be at it's maximum of 5000 and each flower would work out at 250+(23x100)+5000=7550 points, which is a total of 90600 for 12 flowers.
Obviously to run the 1 mile out of the circle the runner will have potentially gained 0.1/pi x 7Cc
Forgetting about randoms, bugs etc at this point, is it fair to say that in the interests of fairness:
7Cc/4 = 0.1/pi x 7Cc + 90600 which gives you Cc is approx. 59,000
i.e. given the current flower scores: the number of coins generated a day x average coin score should = about 59,000
Discuss...

Now I love mathematics as much as the next Mathsgeek, but having to think that deeply about a side-game is where I'd have to duck out. I might just carrying on following point 5 of the header instead
