I have a park that 'just happens' to be just outside my home circle - when I'm doing a lot of short intervals in daylight as opposed to long intervals in the dark, I can end up planting lots and lots of flowers within a few hundred metres of each other - over the course of several months.

If you're running with a garmin (or similar) then flowers get planted when you are in no one's area and your distance is 0.5, 1, 1.5 miles etc. Worth knowing where your home circle starts as when returning from a run it is sometimes worth doubling back a few hundred metres just to make sure that you get one final *.0 or *.5 in and therefore an extra flower.

Races are a bit of a flowers-fest aren't they. At the Blackburn Winter Warmer 10k on Sunday, I picked Nerianne's flowers, planted a load of my own (due to my garmin going into power-save, and then not starting until after a minute, I think), and then UWE picked my flowers. Think my points jumped up about 40,000 :)

They can be providing you are the first to upload your run better to do the planting unless you are quick off the mark

N-O - I don't think it makes a difference, as long as you are not last, unless there is already flowers on the route.

Being first helps if someone's been watering a flower patch on the race route for weeks before race day as you get more for picking the original set of flowers than you would for picking the flowers of another racer who beat you to the upload. Also, if the route goes through someone's circle then there may also be some coins about which will get nabbed by the first uploader.

I got gazillions of points from a race yesterday by picking someone's flowers - I've never had as many fetch points as I've now got. Do you get points for planting flowers too?

Races can give you lots of flower points, especially if you live/work near the route. Before yesterdays Wokingham half I cycled part of the route planting and watering flowers. These flowers were then picked giving me (and picker) loads of points. I then uploaded my run and got points for picking flowers and planting my own, these were then picked givng me more points. There are also now flowers on the route which I will pick later this week.

Nelly true but if someone has watered the flowers continually for months the first person will get the big points max 5000 a flowr whereas those who flower will just get 1000 pts every half mile
