3M (aka MarkyMarkMark)
I've never been able to run as slowly on purpose as Garmin suggests I should, for a long run.

Equally, I've never been able to go as fast as it suggest I should for intervals!

Basically, I run at just one speed.... mostly.

I’m very ,icy one speed which is why I thought it would be a good thing to have a go at PJ
I always surprise myself when I run faster in races without making any conscious effort to

Cheeky’s Dad
I think the aim for long runs should always be to make them comfortable rather than worry about a specific pace. You’re aiming for distance or time on feet. I’d only worry about pace in sessions where you are specifically aiming for it and even then worrying too much about the numbers at first can be daunting. If you start making one session a week include some short quick bursts and one session have a more sustained higher tempo chunk, that’s ok to start and can feel more like fun than a chore ruled by the Garmin. I’d get used to running different paces first and how that makes you feel (at the time and afterwards) and then move on to something more structured.

Evening all :)

EvilPixie - I’m quite enjoying the 20second strides that appeared in the plan I started (and failed) to follow
Not a fitness boost as such as they’re not sprints and not long enough to really get the heartrate up - but good for teaching the legs to turnover quicker before starting on proper intervals
