My training is going well, although it's hard to tell how my altitude times translate to sea level. I know I'm faster down there, but I don't know by how much.

I'm fairly confident that at sea level I can hit 409m in 1:14, 809m in 2:29, and 1209 in 3:44...

But what happens after that is anybody's guess!

At those speeds I think the next thing t happen is that you're feet will start smoking.

I find it's usually the 3rd lap where I loose it, I can get through 800m in under 2:30 and usually pull out a sub 75 last lap but the 3rd is always the slowest.

So do you think the best way to do it it set a target time which you are capable of, keep to that for the first 3 laps and then go for it in the 4th in the hope you can knock a few seconds off?

Roobarb, pretty much it's just that I can never actually do that in a race/time trial because I KNOW I have another lap to go and that stops me from going almost flat out to keep within the time because I'm worried that I will blow up, a bit like I did on Sunday - except that was after 400m!

I'm ging to have a go at that Blister. I'll divide a time by 4 and then go for it in the last lap........ but as they say, the best laid plans!

Promising altitude adjustment there RWC - so you'll be going for sub-4.50? ;)

LOL! I wish.

For the town I live in it gives me an adjustment of 7 to 8 seconds. Which feels about right. But running a mile up here in 5:06 still doesn't count as a sub-five. ;-)

Thanks for the link JEJ. I've been looking for that document for AGES! :-)

Blister, I agree, the third lap is the bitch.

Let's just start our race and pretend we are doing 1209 metres instead!

I ran a 1209 time trial last year at altitude in 3:45. I KNOW I can do that again!
