Sharkie - You'll need to do an 800m to calibrate as well, so good heptathlon practice

Curses! Rumbled! Actually I don't feel much need of Battersea now as everything I want is at LV. But yeah there IS an outdoor track there too.... |

Another events day has been tacked on to the track season here, on October 31, and I've signed up for 200m and 400m. Neither really play to my strengths, particularly not the 200m, but I'm looking forward to having a shot at it, never having raced the distance before and having no real idea of what time I might run - maybe 28.x seconds if all goes well? By comparison, I'm an old hand at the 400m having run it twice before, so at least I know what mistakes to avoid. There's also a 3000m that day. Would it be lunacy to enter this as well? Not sure what back to back 200m and 400m would do to me. |

Depends what you want from the day. I've done 3000/ 5000s after a 1500 or 800 a few times as endurance training. As long as legs are fine and you're not trying to run at your limit you might be ok. 200/ 400 double is probably a hard one if raced at the limit and not accustomed to it. I just looked at my PO10 and was reminded that in 2013 I did 2000SC (scoring), then 1500, followed by 5000 at one track league. Absolute insanity! After the steeple I didn't feel like I'd run a real effort hence the other races as workouts but in hindsight the steeple and the practice in the days leading up to it was a lot of impact on the takeoff/ landing knee. |

Maybe I'll enter anyway. It doesn't matter if I run a lousy time, I suppose.

A 'lousy' time is exactly what you should target IMO. Run progressive if you feel good, but I wouldn't be going out at PB pace.

I've done plenty of 3000m /1500m doubles or 3000m / 800m, and even included a 200m in there once. For me the 3000m is always the A race but scoring League points was the name of the game. |

Looks like I may get to calibrate track mode before my race on Sunday. Current schedule shows a 30 min window were there are no track events just at the point I'm planning on getting there.
