I'm not wearing spikes unless there are going to be some muddy hills. Not comfortable. Anyway - apart from that, can anyone tell me how to run a mile? I don't know how. I'm not being silly. Well, not really.

If I run 100m I just wait for the gun then go like a scalded cat, flat out, fast as poss.

If I'm running 5k I wait for the gun, then tie my shoe laces, finish the last slurp of coffee, strip off the sweatshirt and set off nice and gently. After ten minutes or so I try to speed up from a jog to a trot and see how it goes.

Neither of these is going to work for one mile. If I try the scalded cat technique you'll have to resuscitate me at the end of the first lap and I'll have to drop out. If I run it like a 5k everyone else will have finished before I've finished my coffee.

B*gger - combo of wife knicking car and the dreaded words "replacement bus service" means I may have to give this a miss :-(

LOL! I think I'll keep going, if the ambulance doesn't mind doing three more laps before taking me off to St Peters.

Hey John! You can't give it a miss. I don't mind giving you and a few other people lifts. You're up the A3 somewhere near that nice brewery aren't you? Who else wanted a lift? Can we go via Richmond and pick up other Fetch Milers?

OK - here's an offer. Caterpillar collects John66 at 1.30pm and drives via Richmond and/or Twickers to Stompond Lane. Who wants a lift?

Tell the National Journey Planner you want to go from Richmond to Walton via Staines and it will come up with trains all the way.
