Happy flying!

I almost typed "nappy flying" - still depending on how high you go, might be an idea ;-).

Just passed my Club Pilot exam. Great flying yesterday. Rained today so did theory and exams. Going to do reverse launches tomorrow and hopefully decent final flights Fri. Great fun! :-) G

Nice one G, well done. I'm still trying to plot a way to follow your footsteps, so to speak. Hope you get a decent couple of days. We're just back from Mallorca and the forecast was mixed, so fingers crossed.

Great final flight on the Friday. 55 mins, maybe an hour (forgot to start the Garmin until a bit into the flight - ooh, get me, pressing start with one hand, with two controls in the other!) Soaring on the ridge, getting plenty of height - started from 3,500ft and according to Garmin 3,500ft of climb and descent (though it's just a GPS Garmin, not a barometric one, so take all height with pinch of salt). Flying with 50 or 60 other gliders (including a couple hang gliders) and a dozen or so vultures. Even flew quite close with a couple of them. Amazing.

I could have stayed up all day. But it was evening, sun was going down, moon was up and my hands were getting cold. Brilliant finish to the holiday. Now, can I keep it going in Scotland...?! :-) G

Merry Christmas & Happy New G(rrr)
Nope, didn't keep it going Angus. Have you given it a go?

I joined a club in Scotland (Lanarkshire way) and went to a couple of their talks (all that happens in winter, mostly!). Joined the groups and forums to see how much flying people were actually getting and it's just so much hassle in UK/Scotland. A bit like skiing!

Wonderful thing to do though and a great experience. I'd recommend anyone to give it a go, even if just for a 1 week holiday. :-) G

Can I boing this thread so BarefootEm and ZenTaoPlurp can come in and talk about (presumably) fixed wing aircraft flying...?

(From Podcast MotM interview Em, hope this is ok/relevant?) :-) G

About This Thread

Any paragliders, para motorers (sp?) or hang gliders in the Fetch massive?

Also, extending it to powered aircraft, fixed wing, rotor etc. too as discovered we have a few qualified pilots in Fetch (BarefootEm, ChrisHB?!) :-) G
