Last time I was there we went into the George on Sunday lunchtime after a walk. Stef said we had to go. My Derbyshire accent was strengthening by the minute talking to a local at the bar and she couldn't understand what I was saying

Bodes well for the Fellsman. Though frankly it doesn’t seem to have stopped raining all winter. |

Did PWIAD yesterday. It's probably the gloopiest, muddiest race I've ever done. @paulcook think what it'll be like trying together up Gargareth. It's a struggle when it's dry! Seem to have grabbed one of the last few places :-/ |

Thankfully I'm only doing the Dart this year (for various reasons, one being to try and enjoy the finish in daylight, but if this weather persists there's no enjoying that finish!) so I don't have that climb to look forward to. Though I have to admit, I love the view from the top and the run along the top until somewhere just before Great Coum. Took a different line to everyone around me, hopped over a few bogs, and made some time up. Yes, I noticed yesterday it was full for both events now. I've only done the last 2 but ummed and ahhed a few years before then and never been full before. |

Just as a matter of interest, Bobs went up Gragareth yesterday and said that the trod has really established and the ground is soaking. Also it seems that the stile over the Whernside ridge wall has been left in place and consequently there is now a clear trod to follow all the way down to Kingsdale.

Bobs has a seriously warped idea of fun Although was only saying on Friday that I really need to get up and get some recces in as it's been a few years. Especially for the last couple of legs where it's dark, craggy and usually a blizzard. It's a shame that that trod is now established. Used to be able to make up a fair bit along that stretch if you knew the lines. |

Interestingly it’s not really been very wet round these parts. A fairly normal winter. The really heavy rainfall has been mostly much further south and/or east. bbc.co.uk |

That's true. I think that it was just overnight rain that contributed to her Gragareth experience yesterday and once you get on that ridge towards Great Coum it's as boggy as hell no matter what.
