I know some tennant farmers in the Dales prefer Whisky or Wine to Beer.

And of course tennant farmer =/= landowner in many circumstances

And although most tennant farmers/landowners are incredibly helpful and open in alllowing access, there's always the odd one or so that won't allow anything.

Those miserable buggers up in Haverah Park wanted cold hard cash AND whisky 🙂

I'm thinking if I bought a very small square of land on, say, Pendle Hill, it would be a good investment and I could keep myself in booze all year given the number of races that go over it :-)

But then Pendle Hill is a shit hole. It’s in Lancashire for starters ;-)

Yorkshire land would be at a premium far beyond my means ;-)

I've always thought of Pendle Hill as a good place to get a decent amount of climb in, great place for BG training without travelling too far.

I’d rather go up to Littondale. Actually where we are now Pendle is closer

NE that's the plan. Depending on how you go up you can get a nice variety from hands-on-knees to runable.

I don't think that Littondale offers the same mean and nasty training opportunities as Pendle, undoubtedly more picturesque though.
