OK Quick survey time. To tape or not to tape? Reading stuff on the world wide internet web thingy seems to show a spilt in this one so what are peoples views and has anybody got experience of taping ankle injuries (Rich? Will?) and can give some advice.

Mud, my view is that for a limited time, to support an injured ankle in a race (for example) taping is good. There's a physical effect and a psychological one. The physical one is not only in support but also, if your ankle starts to go, the tug of the tape on the ankle can prompt the proprioceptive responses. The psychological one is every bit as important for me, just knowing that I have that little bit of extra help gives me a real boost of confidence.
What shouldn't be done (IMHO) is continual taping. This will only lead the body to depend upon this and not develop the correct responses.
So yep, give it a try when you're up and running again, but don't depend on it and don't overdo it.
