Awesome enjoy the party and racing larks. Glad all too hot athletes are OK! Hot laps in Canada. Delighted to see Russell hitting the top. Should be exciting race with Mclarens coming through from behind too? Tough to pass in Canada though? ![]() |

Russell coming through with that lap added a lot of excitement to quali yesterday. I rolled my eyes when max got pole, then noticed the purple middle from George. I think today, one of two things will happen. Max takes the lead into the first corner, then George is under pressure from the fast McLaren behind. If George can stay in the lead first corner, he's got more chance of building a lead while max keeps Oscar at bay. |

What did we think then? I really enjoyed the race. Surprised to find folk complaining that it was boring. Good first 7 laps, with max fighting for the lead and the brilliant start for kimi. Enjoyable middle of the race. Ok, nothing spectacular happened, but with everyone on different tyre strategies it was interesting. Last 10 laps had a brilliant battle between the McLarens with a dramatic end, meanwhile watching kimi drive really nicely to try to keep 3rd. Max catching Russell and then Russell responding and opening the gap too. Shame to end under sc conditions really. |

was surprised to see turn one / lap one go ok, but don't know if the media 'helped' with that. middle stint was ok. McLaren 'incident' and safety car brought an interesting end to race. Glad to see Antonelli on podium! |

There wasn't much overtaking, but lots of strategies converging. I don't see the top 5 being on the same straight with 10 laps to go as being boring. There seemed to be a weird double standard shown by the stewards. Tsunoda got a 10 place grid penalty for overtaking under red flags in practice. But when the race ended, they were still under safety car regulations and 7 drivers passed others. The stewards decided they had broken regulations but issued no penalties. In a previous race, drivers got a point on their licence and it was said future penalties would be stronger, but they did nothing. It would have been more consistent to have given those drivers a 10 place grid penalty at the next race if Tsunoda got one for basically doing the same thing. |

I didn't see drivers passing under safety car at end. I saw Red Bull trying to claim that Russell was driving dangerously and Mercedes claiming Verstappen did an overtake when Russell had virtually stopped his car (both stupid and annoying claims, like footballers diving!) But stewards dismissed those. Great racing, high speed, wheel to wheel, I have no idea how those guys avoid hitting someone. Except Norris. Who didn't avoid hitting hitting someone. Soooo lucky that Piastri didn't get taken out by that too. Very poor judgement and control by him. But I guess everyone can make a mistake. But he needs to cut those out. Piastri still going well, but not so dominant. Verstappen still outdriving his car. Great to see Mercs 1 and 3, is that Russell's first Pole to Win? Hopefully Merc will be back in the hunt. McLaren and Merc need to avoid divvying up the points and letting Verstappen creep in to top spot! Nothing that can be done about that though, if that's the way the results go. Leclerc and Hamilton really are only 6th and 7th cars, aren't they? C4 coverage soooo annoying, they kept skipping 3 or 5 laps and really didn't get a sense of the progress that some drivers were making, because of that. I might have to invest in Sky or whoever does the proper full race coverage. ![]() |

Not much chat about it here (OK, so it's an F1 thread), but a dream win for Robert Kubica in a satellite Ferrari at the Le Mans 24-hour. He did a quintuple stint in the final three hours to get the car across the line, beating the factory teams crash.net . Kudos! [I'd followed much of this year's qualifying and race coverage] |

Last couple of hours was exciting, but in a weird way. I can absolutely recommend Le Mans as an experience for anyone, motorsports fan or not. It's a completely other scale to anything else. Delighted for kubica. |

Didn’t manage to catch any of Le Mans, but agree it was a great win for Kubica F1 was good I thought. Agree with the comments about the multiple strategies all playing out. It kept it interesting. Lando will probably rue that brain fart come the end of the season. He just seemed to lose patience. Great result for the Mercs though! Anyone else feel that Croft is having a bit of an off season in terms of Sky commentary? I like him as a commentator (particularly with Brundle alongside) but this year he just seems to be a bit off his game. |
