I've got the interest back! Really need to get some speed sessions to knock my 5k/10k time down!

OK - been there, done that, and got a new PB T shirt :-)

Now then - six weeks to go to Abingdon, I'm happy with doing long runs on Sundays, no probs so long as my twingy knee gives it a miss. I think I'll do a sort of 8 to 12 longish run as well, maybe including some Mara pace miles on a Thursday or Friday, and maybe on another day a shorter run on Tuesday or Weds. I don't want to run more than 3 times a week for various reasons, so what to do with the shorter run? At the mo I use it as transport to the gym to do my abs/back strengthening class on Tues, so a round trip of 7 miles broken by 30 mins of class, and last week I did it at mara pace which was OK. If the weather is foul I'll drive to the gym so I could do the run on Weds and do intervals or something. What do you think?

Good stuff Icemaiden. Maybe Gobi will pop up with an idea for a session - my thought is that it should be something a bit sharper to put some edge on your pace.

Ah ha Glennr, but my pace for what? I have copied over a plan onto my training plan which has some intervally things in it but I'm not sure I can be bothered because I don't see the point in doing 10K or 5K paced intervals for a mara. where my weakness is probably not being able to hang on at mara pace past about 22 miles. Or even identifying mara pace in the first place!
Waits for Gobi or anyone to come along with a good reason for doing intervals over the next 5-6 weeks .... and going to the hairdressers now which will definitely improve my pace over all distances!

Funny enough a marathon is aerobic and if only running 3 times a week I wouldn't do intervals

6 miles with 4 at Tempo
6 mile progressive starting slower than MP and ending around 10km pace(to 5 miles, 6 is always the cool down)
6 miles with 4 at HMP

What's the difference between tempo and HMP in your book Gobi?
