The males are really handsome. Actually ducks are now in eclipse plumage. Obviously can’t tell size of your bird but could be an adult that’s moulting

I wouldn't have thought that looking at the RSPB site. I don't think it's supposed to be so far south, and on it's own.

Birds don’t always follow what they’re supposed to do or turn up where they’re meant to be. Plus it’s migration time and many species will be on the move in the coming weeks ( including swift and waxwing )

Female kestrel sat on telegraph cables behind the house with several goldfinch this morning. It seemed to have a long tail and just for a second at first I thought it might have been a cuckoo
