Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Not birds, but finally got to the coast (only 2 miles away) to see the pod of dolphins that have been spotted regularly over the last few weeks. Loads of them but this was my best shot.

Their testes atrophy after the breeding season ER, so definitely less ballsy. Testosterone levels fall as soon as the last brood is raised, and aggression towards other males falls with testosterone levels.

It is all controlled by the production of luteinizing hormone in the pituitary, and is linked to day length.

Bet you wished you'd never asked.

On a run yesterday on narrow country lanes when a car overtook then just stopped. As I slowed to try and figure out what the car was doing I realised there was something in the road in front of the car... Well it was only a kestrel, poor fella must've tired himself out because he didn't try to fly or anything when we approached. Anyway we managed to coax it to safety just off the side of the road and both car and runner carried on their merry way. No picture as I wasn't carrying my phone.
