I thought the peak was the Men at Arms through to Thief of Time, but that that was such a high bar, it was going to be impossible to maintain.

But I still enjoyed all the other books - particularly, it has to be said, the Tiffany Aching books (which effectively replaced the Witches series as he broadly retired them).

I think the later books with the Watch and MVL broadly reflected that interest he had in advancing Ankh-Morpork as it was going through it's version of the industrial revolution and the advance of technology.

Even Unseen Academicals (which I very much enjoyed and I thought was arguably the cleverest of the final "main" DW books).

I didn't enjoy (as much) The Truth, Montrous Regiment, Going Postal, Making Money the first time through (these I see as their own series really) - **but** on 2nd reading, I found another layer which made them so much more fun.

That said, I've often found 2nd and 3rd layers on repeat readings. I haven't re-read Raising Steam yet and I really must.

I have to say on repeat readings, the weakest offerings often seem to be Sourcery and Eric (plus Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic, but things were still very early at that point).

Agree with 13098. MonsReg I thought was terribly overrated.

As you know, I liked The Truth and the first two MVLs very much.

I'm reading The Truth (for first time as I said not read any for 10yrs +) and enjoying it. I've always thought they're not as clever as Douglas Adams but Truth is obv satire on news and therefore very topical. :-) G

I agree with Greg P. Monstrous Regiment wasn't up to the usual standard. The jokes were poor - socks down trousers, etc, and the garments named after great soldiers.
I'm a great fan of the wonderful Tiffany. I hope my granddaughters read about her. She's a great role model.

Is Makerade a Vampires one? I like them? I think I've read both though.
