I never enjoy races. Races are for half killing yourself and doing the best you can. Running in nice places, or anywhere I choose, on my own or with good company at whatever pace I feel like, I can do any time. I'm usually trying too hard in a race to get any enjoyment out of it whatsoever.

Stamford St. Valentine's 30k, Rutland Water and Mablethorpe Marathons.

Mabo's not the most scenic, but I've done good PBs there twice, and it's half an hour from home.

I'm with Pudds here, I never enjoy racing -my favourite is probably the Chernobyl (Preston) 10K in January or July -done it many times and always a good atmosphere before and after

I enjoy the longer, off road type of races. Anything else and you should be going eyeballs out - it should not be comfortable or enjoyable, otherwise you're not trying hard enough ;-)

I would normally agree, but you have forgotten the unmitigated joy of the Apperley Bridge Canter.
Its like a six mile orgasm.

Agree with the ever wise 360 and Pudds.

But if you mean race as in an event rather than an activity, I really loved the Cape Wrath races in May.

I also enjoyed about half an hour after St Neots HM.
