Famous birthdays - how old are they today?

Dr S and I usually get a newspaper two or three times a week and divvy it up. She reads the serious news and I read the sports section, film reviews, book reviews and other bits and pieces. Sooner or later, one of us turns to the "Birthdays" page. Whoever gets there first will say out the names listed and ask the other how old each of those people is today. It is very rewarding when one of us guesses the exact age of anyone and even "one year out" is a cause for a "whoop". All too often we are ten or more years out and that can just as easily be in respect of a thirty-something as an octogenarian.

I wonder if this odd pastime translates into something of wider interest? See how you get on. Here are four of today's birthday boys and girls from the Times. Dr S was the asker today and I was two years out on two of them, one year out on one and got the remaining one exactly. That was a lot more successful than I usually am. No cheating ... how old are each of the following today? (You may realise that we tend to go for the very well known, because we don't recognise most of the names listed!)

Oh I used to love playing this game with my team back in the days when I used to come to the office with a newspaper under my arm most days. I too had to focus on the Sport & Entertainment segment; no point asking them about Art & Literature!

Sadly that team, office and newspaper (at least in print form) are no longer with us.
