The Guardian report states that there are no overweight children in the school. If true, that is absolutely remarkable.

Very proud of it being a wee school in Stirling, just up the road from here, that came up with the idea. They've been doing it for a few years. I don't know about "no overweight kids". The report I read said "half the national average". None is less than half! Still great either way though. And the head teacher sounded great, really enthusiastic and said the kids love it and that's how it flourishes. All good. :-) G

Lots of schools are doing 'Run to Rio' next term, which involves most kids running a mile a day and it's all logged on a website and certificates blahblahblah. Ds2 is disappointed he can only run a mile at a time, he'd like to do more. Not sure about the unfit kids, but as long as they make it fun...

Half the mums round here drive their kids half a mile to school, I don't see it being popular with the parents but hopefully the kids will be OK about it :)

I ran miles as a boy (mostly avoiding various rough kids who wanted to batter me :-O)
