Sounds like the stuff they were doing in the 90's. https://youtu.be/ldxQ-cH5Rg8 Also I've got tickets to see Andy Bell Space Station next Feb. Not entirely sure what to expect, but he's playing on independent venue day so the tickets were 6.60 including booking fee.
