Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

some runners use Power of 10 and/or Run Britain. Indeed our club uses Run Britain when calculating some of it's awards.

Hi Judith

I'm afraid we won't be able to include any performances from this race unless the organisers make full results publicly available. I'd suggest contacting the organisers to encourage them to do as they've indicated to us that they won't be and won't provide us with any results.

Unless the organisers make FULL results publicly available...... seems there is still a way to go

Our club uses power of 10 to award standards, pb notification etc...
Also need results to be published for GFA and Elite entries at other marathons such as London, Boston, NYC. I for one would be a bit pissed if i run a marathon to get qualifying criteria just for it not to be available!

As a coach over at Pocklington I will be recommending to all our registered runners that no one runs this race, or any other GSi event, until the organisers change their stance on this.

EA registered clubs and their members expect to be able to have their results available on Run Britain and Power of 10, and as I alluded to above, we (and probably many other clubs) use Run Britain results towards some of our annual awards.

So if a runner isn't in a club, isn't bothered about power of 10, runbritain, gfa or elite entry, doesn't want to do London, Boston, or NYC it doesn't matter? I can understand that they're breaking the rules but...What's the fuss all about?

If you're not happy with the organisation, don't do it. Edinburgh Marathon is now established as a total cock up marathon. There's plenty of other marathons out there.

the fuss is because of all the things you mentioned...(Power of 10, Run Britain, GFA, Championship entry, BQ, IAAF Bronze Award requirements et.Al.).

This affects a huge number of the runners who ran this race...that's why it's important.

But andydgg, there arerunners that are in clubs, that are bothered about power of 10 and RunBritain rankings, do want to qualify for other marathons, and thus trained hard for this race, for those particular reasons. That is what the fuss is all about!
Yes of course one can avoid this race in the future, but that does not undo the damage that has been wrought already.

I guess andy's saying that they can all now opt-in, and all will be fine again. Which is true, but is still unsatisfactory.

There's something wrong about secret results, full stop. Anyone can claim they ran the Edinburgh marathon as it stands now. And in (just about) any time. I *know* we all do this sport for ourselves and nobody else (right?) - but I still resent the idea that somebody can claim a performance (for charity, or just for attention) without having any evidence.

Signed Psi...

andydgg - there are also a lot of charity runners that would like their results to be public to share with the charity and the many people who have sponsored them. GSI are the only organisers who adopt this policy which is also flawed in many ways!!
