Hey, anybody running along with Eddie Izzard for his 31 marathons in January? I kind of am but only because I’m running a few miles every day in January. Plus I’m running out in the countryside and hills where Eddie is running it on a treadmill. A treadmill! I can’t manage a mile on a treadmill without forgetting which leg goes first. Eddie’s streaming live to his website 1-6pm and he chats to interviewees from the charities he’s supporting and people he’s worked with. I listen to it as I run and find it quietly reassuring and an antidote to lockdown woes. eddieizzard.com |

Tbh I am not sure whether there is a correct /wrong pronoun per se for Eddie. As the website uses the pronouns he / she interchangeably and in an interview last week is quoted as: "Izzard also spoke of his bemusement at the recent debate over his use of pronouns. He is “gender-fluid” and uses both male and female pronouns, and when he was posing for the finalists of Sky Arts’ Portrait Artist of the Year, he was referred to (with his enthusiastic consent) as “she/her”. Yet Izzard has now confirmed that he didn’t push for this on the programme, and that he regards it as not “a big thing”." telegraph.co.uk |

Not running with but following on Zwift and FB - was lucky to run through a bit of St Albans with Eddie when she did the sport relief challenge (think it was 2009?!). I also got to meet *the* Helegant of this parish. Eddie was a lovely person, and was totally focused on the challenge - in the case of sport relief raising as much money as possible. No doubt she can do this one. |

It is remarkable what Eddie’s doing. I don’t really get zwift though. Did you have to get one of those foot pod things to do it?

Think so support.zwift.com I only cycle on Zwift so no practical experience of the treadmill setup. Wonder if the documentary from the sport relief thing is still out there - interesting viewing it starts with the sports doctor basically saying “even seasoned athletes wouldn’t attempt this” and also lots of fetchie spotting to be done running alongside her (we went a bit mad on supporting at the time!). I think she carried on running for fun after that (and has gone on to do other challenges) |

I thought about a foot pod but it’s £30 and I’d only ever use it to run with Eddie so I just gave the money to the charity instead 😁

Good thinking- as well as the ‘mill and pod you’d also need a Zwift subscription! I love Zwift for social lockdown cycling, a multitude of virtual routes, and with the right trainer the resistance changes to simulate incline. Think on the treadmill you’d have to change the gradient yourself (?) |

Yeah, I have a treadmill but hate it. I’d rather run repeatedly round the garden tbh
