I ran across a beach on Sunday morning, across a long section of pebbles and rocks. It was tough going but at least the stones had been rounded by the waves. The rocks in Sth Africa looked a bit sharp and pointy for my liking!

Saw him walking around the Eden Project yesterday in *very* high heels. If that's what he wears day to day, it might not be the best preparation for zero drop shoes!

Well he's nearly there and he's chucking in Comrades at the end. Amazing! He looks pretty wrecked on the last BBC3 video. I bet there'll be something on Sport Relief on TV tonight My boys who are 6 and 5 both did 2 miles today at school in honour of Eddie. |

Interesting that he admitted missing one day as he was in hospital, so he will do a double marathon to ensure that he completes the 27 marathons within the 27 day target. I think that most of his runs are marathon distance but not official marathons. Must confess that the only marathons I do are those listed by the 100 Marathon Club. Nevertheless, Eddie's achievements have been fantastic and worthy of recognition. |

I don't think he ever claimed to be doing "official" marathons Phil. I think he's always meant "marathon distance or more each day". Certainly when he did the round Britain thing which was 50 odd "marathons" in 70 days or whatever it was, none of them were actual races, I don't think. It was just plodding along the road, sometimes accompanied by dozens of running (and Fetchie!) friends. He's quite amazing. I wish they'd stop saying "and he doesn't even train". He does. Not the way or amount you should for a huge challenge like this, but he does do running and fitness training. But he gets round these big adventures mostly on pure bloody-mindedness! It was an honour to run with him last time, and an amazing privilege to get to chat to him, 1 to G
