Hi all

We decided to keep The Eddie Cheetham Memorial 7k at Debale Park going, even though the Manchester Parks Grand Prix (the series the race was part of) stopped this year.

Would be really great if this race continues as it's our clubs 25th anniversary this year and we named it in memory of our club founder. Those that do this race really enjoy it, we have a loyal following as opposed to a huge field.

Many thanks!

Belle Vue Racers regret to announce that we have taken the sad decision to cancel the running of this year's Eddie Cheetham Memorial in Debdale Park that was due to be held on Sunday 6th July 2014.
This decision has been taken after careful consideration and discussion by our Race Committee based on the following factors:
1. The race was due to be held on the same weekend that the Tour de France passes close by and we have become increasingly aware that this is of unique interest to many runners who are also keen cyclists or supporters of this event.
2. There have been very few entries received to date. We believe several factors could be the reason for this including the increasing popularity of free park runs (of which there are several in our area) and the fact the our race is no longer part of the Five Races Grand Prix series (this was cancelled at short notice despite the efforts of several clubs including ourselves who wanted the series to continue).
Please note that our increasingly popular Hit The Trail race will definitely go ahead in January 2015.
