Just caught up with the HoF game. Raiders looking impressive, even without the big names

Sit down before you check the MLB news GregP. Ringworm treatment is an excuse for drugs that is new to me. |

This from the SDUT: Turns out labeling Fernando Tatis Jr. of the Padres a generational player was far more accurate than anyone knew. Generationally foolish. Generationally immature. Generationally reckless. Generationally selfish. It’s one thing for a 23-year-old to make the irresponsible decision to climb on a motorcycle in the offseason and fracture a wrist when money, commercial close-ups and video-game covers are raining down with the ferocity of a spring thunderstorm. It’s a completely and maddeningly other thing to deliver gut punches in rapid succession like a flyweight boxer — to the owner who invested 14 years and $340 million, to teammates grinding through in your absence, to a GM who went all-in with the biggest trade-deadline magic act ever, to fans and a city with patience tested like an MIT applicant — with an 80-game suspension for a positive performance-enhancing drug test announced Friday. Tatis wanted the Big Cake? Try the Big Catastrophe. |

You might enjoy these two para from the LA Times: When Tatis was injured in the offseason, multiple team sources said the Padres were not going to take advantage of any clauses in his contract to recoup money. The decision was based on a desire to maintain good relations with a player they consider a cornerstone of the franchise over the next decade-plus. Preller said Friday that the organization would “revisit” some of the details from Tatis’ offseason. |

'Preller' being President of Baseball Operations A.J. Preller, for those of you who don't speak Padre.

Well I hope you enjoyed your week or so of “hope” before returning to the usual “despair”

I’m sure the wheels are coming off slightly early this year. Perhaps we’ll have brave, late and ultimately doomed renaissance.
