I know this is hypocritical considering all the time I spend ranting against gimmicks in cricket, but the play in tournament is a wonderful thing for the casual hoops enthusiast.

SPR will be along in a minute to explain why I’m Wrong.

Haha, well you said it yourself, it's hypocritical. I get it though, it's excitement Vs pure merit in sport. There's no way it should come down to 1 singular game over an 82 (72 this year) game season on merit. The reality though is it usually wouldn't affect the true competition to win the whole thing (which makes it a gimmick that is probably worth it). This year, the Lakers being in it due to injuries is a problem the league would rather not have. A Curry Vs LeBron play in is great for the casual though and 1 off games can always be competitive.

I say it's a problem they'd rather not have, but it's only a problem if the Lakers get booted, otherwise it makes the play in a bigger deal.

Player in 7th place team thinks play in for 7th place is a terrible idea shocker.

Rolling back to the lack of excitement about a left tackle... I was quite pleased about this signing. Should help keep Wentz a bit safer. And increase the chance of 3 first rounders for the Eagles

Randle's all star season has meant R J Barratt can develop with less pressure. D Rose is happy to be elite off the bench playing for a coach he has a relationship with and again with less pressure than if he'd been expected to be the star or leader. This is the best the Knicks have played since the spell before KP did his ACL in 2017. They'll not go deep into the playoffs, but the experience of making them against the odds sets them up for the future

In terms of how bad the Knicks were supposed to be, the over/under before the season started was 21.5 wins (second lowest behind Oklahoma at 21)They're 38-30 with 4 games to go.

We’ve got a young fragile right handed quarterback. I love a left tackle, me.

And yes, SPR - fair enough. Liked NDWD’s 14799
