I used to go to Parkrun a lot, but the time is now quite inconvienient for me. Having got up at 5am every weekday morning I need a bit of a lie in weekends!

My local club do a lovely 5k on a Friday evening in the summer which I do. There are medals, too :-)

Kaz, your local parkrun has Fauja Sign (the 100 yo runner) there on Saturday.

You should come, there is no way you would be anywhere near last. The regulars are a lovely bunch (if I may say so myself!)

Can't do this weekend anyway BC. I'd need to work out how I could run there and back if I do one

I haven't run there and back yet, only cycled. It's 6 miles door to door for me, basically straight down the A118 so would make a nice long run with a bit of race pace stuff stuck in the middle

I plan to, there is a club championship race at glocester, 5k, in May, flat too, unlike Swindon PR.

That's nice Kaz - you finally get someone your own age to run with.

Stander - ouch! Better run faster than Kaz next time you are both in the same race.

Summer evening 5ks are good. we have one at Harwich (or did a few years ago) which was a handicap, which worked very well. And my first ever race was a 5k, the JPMorgan charity 5k race in Battersea Park. I generally don't bother with shorter races now, though. Too S-L-O-W.
