I checked the Duolingo options for car during my session this morning. It offers auto, coche or carro as correct choices.

I ate the rest of the cheese.

It *usually* accepts 'carro' - I used to use it out of some misplaced belligerence. Then it failed me because it wanted 'coche' and I stopped.

I got suckered into being 'clever' yesterday with

"Ella llevaba zapatos blancos."

I think translating this as 'she was carrying white shoes' is valid. Because it is. The Green Pigeon chooses to believe otherwise.
