Glad to see you, jennywren I'm enjoying French as well, to the extent that I have to make an effort to focus on Spanish. I feel as if I'm sitting comfortably on top of the French and trying to leap up and grasp the Spanish from the floor.
I do some Spanish most days even if it's just revision, and a chunk of French and German at least once a week.
I stopped the email reminders. I was getting three a day and they were just a pain in the in-box.

As well as the daily reminders for each language if I've not tested by a certain time of day, I've recently started to receive a weekly summary of how many XPs I've done in every language. I've been stuck on 54% fluency in Spanish for at least 2 months and I was tired last night when I tackled Spanish. I chose the "Strengthen skills" and got bombarded with lots of words and grammar I don't remember ever coming across. Result - 83 attempts just to get 17 correct answers :-o. Dreadful! Terrible! Awful! So what did Duolingo do? They decided I was now 55% fluent:-o! That made me :-).

Maybe the algorithm is set to increase your fluency as a sort of random reinforcement to make you stay and be experimented on
I got a random shunt up in Spanish a few days ago, and today I also got bombarded with some hard stuff during a French strengthening exercise and given another percentage point in fluency.

GreP's Spanish ducks must be fighting back because now "the farmers are wounded" or depending whether you're rooting for the ducks or the farmers!

Donald or Daffy? Both are ridiculous.

In German, the men keep ducks as pets, though occasionally the ducks get eaten by cats. This is probably less bizarre than the tendency of the men to have spiders.
