Been to the physio today, 8 days after my second calf strain in a month. I've got to get OH to knead the affected area hard - and painfully - for 5 minutes a day for 5 days. Plus icing, stretching, strengthening exercises, and back again next week for another treatment. Then he said he'll tape my leg, and I can go for a run. The tape will last about 3 days, he says.

But after that, I will need more tape....

Who uses it? Where do you get it from? How do you decided how long to use it for?

This is the stuff I use, very sparingly.

amazon.co.uk

It got me round London 2012 with a nast calf-knack in a time I was actually quite proud of.

I call it magic tape, which should give you an idea what I think of it. :-)

As with all placebos, it's not whether we believe in it, it's whether *you* believe in it :-)

It can't be a placebo. It's been wholly embraced by the physiotherapy community round these parts.

Better get some ordered, then. Presume your physio showed you how to put it on yourself? He said I could always give him a ring when I was going to do a run and he'd tape me up... but I don't fancy a 15 minute drive each way every time I go for a run....

Do you use it forever.... or only while recovering from an injury?

People who use it seem to love it... but there is no scientific evidence that it works, and no consensus as to what it is meant to do.

If it helps, use it...
