idio
Have you tried Torq gels as they have no colours or artificial sweeteners added.

I'm sure you can get them in Tescos, Fozzy. If not, definitely in your local neighbourhood pharmacist.

Torq oddly were worse for me than SIS (which I've used for most of the last 2 years, bad tummy a few weeks back put me off). Trying Nectar at the moment, so far so good, but doing shorter runs / tri so not jiggling about as much as running long races. Tempted to get some dextro tabs and give them a go on the bike this weekend. Will report back :)

I'm going to see if I can find some tonight at Morrisons and neck them round Windermere on Sunday.

I just checked Mysupermarket.com Morrisons don't have them, Sainsbury have just the blackcurrant and Tesco have the biggest choice which includes the 'Sports Nutrition' ones which I mentioned earlier. As I said, I have no idea if these are different or not.

This could be different in your supermarkets though.

"Shotblocks didn't work for me - not enough energy" - relative to what fozzy? A 60ml SIS gel gives you 85kcal, the same size packet of 6 Clif shotbloks gives you 200kcal. Given you will struggle to absorb more than around 300kCal per hour when exercising anyway a single packet of shotbloks is a pretty efficient way of carrying fuel.

Found some in a cupboard. I've been having issues with gels, so am going to try another tactic.
