Not personally SailorSteve.

Though I did hear from a work colleague that she experienced depression after a covid jab. She felt tired and had a low mood period.

Thanks Scp.

Mrs SS has suffered a terrible crash which coincided with her jab a few weeks ago. Just looking for any clues as to a way forward. Thanks again for the reply.

I hope she can find some equilibrium
Started with a new counsellor. Bit wiped out and emotional but I think it’s the way of the world that I am better for taking stock at certain points in my life

Tried to make a call to see a doctor. They won't do face to face but will call this evening. I was a bit crushed at not being able to see someone. I'm not coping well at work, confused and can't get organised and there are still lots of issues with sick parents, my scheming git of a brother trying to fleece mum and dad of money, anorexic daughter who might be trying to hide behind one adequate meal a day and eating not much the rest of the time, and son who can't get his head around doing anything about his future. I don't feel I can turn to my wife as the last time I expressed concerns about our daughter's illness and whether it was getting worse, she instantly broke down in tears. It's all up to me. My usual escape and resetting my mind is running, but I can't due to injury and my weight has gone up quite a bit along with my blood pressure. So getting out and being able to talk to people about what is going on or how I'm feeling is cut off.

I should treat the doctor's call as a start, and something going in the right direction, but it instantly feels like I will be under pressure to explain myself and be effective in the call.

Just writing this is making me anxious and shaky. But I do feel a bit better than yesterday at work where it was a day of pressure headache and a constant rushing sound in my head. I got better sleep and feel less of that rushing sound in my head today. I've never asked for help before and it's quite a scary thing to do.

Glad you have reached out Groundhog. Doctors defo a start. Also don’t think it is all just down to you. Women are much more emotional. I have been known to cry at the littlest thing but doesn’t mean I can’t step up and do what needs to be done. Big hugs to you xx

Groundhog, can you write down what you want to say to your GP to give your call some structure.

Do you know what you want from your GP.

Does your employer provide any wellbeing support such as counselling.

I'll make some notes. I'm not sure what I want, but I felt this could be a first step. If they recommend counselling then maybe referral from a GP would help. My employer does provide some help, so I am looking at that. Mostly that would be over the phone so I am not sure if it would be different to the GP.

I have found the consultancy directory to be helpful Groundhog if private is possible for you. I think there has been some turnover during the pandemic but it lets you search on specialisms. I have found knowing I’m not adding further pressure to those already affected helpful: Teebs once said to me that when your issues are within your inner circle you need to seek help outside it, and counselling let’s me talk it through without feeling disloyal. Knowing I have that outlet when I need it really helps. Hope the GP can help too. Have a hug xx counselling-directory.org.uk

I had a call from the GP. She was very nice and helpful. Was concerned about high blood pressure so wants a temporary increase in what I'm taking. I need to monitor over the week to check it's working and she gave me a threshold that means go to A&E. She's sending contact details for talking therapy and CBT and we'll have a review call next week and maybe face to face as well later. I have a physio session tomorrow so hopefully that can be a road back to exercise and losing some weight.
