Decathlon might be worth a look too. I think they might be doing a re-cycling scheme at the moment.

AJLB, thanks for that, the bike has no reflectors at all and I've sorted them all out now. I do ride at night but ALWAYS with lights and two lights at the back 'just in case' one should go flat.

Nearest Decathlon is 86 miles away, thanks for the suggestion though. A bit annoying it’s so far away!

FF - I think it’s a legal requirement for a bike to have a rear reflector, at any time.

All reflectors and lights are only legally required at night (lighting up time). However, I see more and more bikes (and indeed cars) with daylight running lights, which I guess do help with visibility, assuming drivers are looking... #SMIDSY

i have spd pedals and you can get plastic insert with reflectors on to go in one side of the clib. i used this temporary work around until i bought new ones (spd) with reflectors built in.

I've got drop handlebars on my road bike but they are no longer practical after I broke my hand. Is it possible to change to straight bars? If so what do I need to consider?

Hmm. Possibly but you’d also need to change brake and gear levers and the setup may be all wrong for flat bars (you tend to be more upright with flat bars). I’d suggest talking to your local bike shop and seeing what they suggest.

Personally I find flat bars worse on my wrists as the angle is all wrong, riding in the hoods of drop bars feels much more natural.
