I also found I clipped the wheel a couple of times as I was using the middle of my foot and not the ball - so much to learn.

Were you using a "death grip" on the bars, LG? Loosen up Presumably though you have made it back without falling off or crashing, so that's a win

Also think about relaxing your shoulders and using your core to hold yourself in position (note to self take own advice!)

I used to get very sore wrists and shoulders when I started cycling as I was terrified and gripping on for dear life. Not so bad now but still get it sometimes. Worth looking at your set up too LG- if reach is wrong it will hurt your wrists

LG I have gone from 0-60 with cycling over the past month and a bit and due to an older, ill fitting bike, I have developed ulnar neuropathy in my left hand/wrist to the point where I can't even clip my nails on my right hand so I'd recommend looking at your position on the bike if loosening the death grip doesn't work soon. |

For those interested you should soon be able to claim your £50 government voucher towards making your old bike roadworthy. Bike shops are registering for the scheme from yesterday. fixyourbikevoucherscheme.est.org.uk |
