Ah, I follow. It's not entirely clear from the manual (I'm guessing it's not a scenario they particularly target), but as it's the left one, it may work.

The manual suggests you need to first pair the left pedal to the head unit, and then link the right pedal to the left. So it sounds like the left pedal does much of the heavy lifting, and if it doesn't detect a right one acts accordingly. Unless they specifically add a software element to units sold as 200 to change it, I can't see why it wouldn't work with left only (it could also cover if you have one battery failure). However you may just have to experiment.

Yep I looked in guides and DCRainmaker and random page so hoped someone had done it - guess I may have to resysnc so it knows there’s only one. It found it all really easily (I didn’t have to choose left or right it just did it).

Got the second pedal off! Brother on pedal wrench, me clipped in and pushing down! To quote Tenacious D - that’s F-ing Teamwork!

It can be a right pain getting pedals off, especially if they weren't greased in the first place. I use an old Ford brake adjuster tool (fits perfectly) and a big rubber mallet, works every time 🙂

It's a red letter day... i've gone and bought myself an E bike. Comes next week!

Specialized Vado 3 EQ, i can't go for anything too agressive. Decided drops were just not for me. Wanted option to carry a pannier or box for longer / picnicky days, can't see me doing any bike packing per se!

My regular cycle to work is a sweaty mess, so hoping to be able to get to work in better nick.

Also like to be able to tackle some of the climbs in the Shire on the weekends.

I'll report back!

good luck maz, i'll be interested to see how you get on. i've only tried an e-bike once, literally just a few pedals when someone let me have a go. but i was shocked at just how much power is generated by the battery - nearly took off! I do wonder, though, what they're like to ride if the battery conks out and you have to cycle one manually, especially up hill.

Exciting news MazH!

@Gordon - I think that depends very much on the bike. I have a Boardman ADV8.9e, and it's easy enough to ride with the assistance turned off. Of course, in my case, the extra weight of the battery is far exceeded by the excess weight of the rider. I may feel different about it in the unlikely event of ever getting back to racing weight...

I've found that I generally have the assistance turned off - I mostly use it for nastier inclines, or the occasional getaway from traffic lights...

That's my plan, assistance off, and will use it when i can feel the effort ramp up to save the hot n sweaties. (niiice huh!)

If the unassisted is draggy, then it's not the bike for me! and it'll go back, this was very much a once in a lifetime purchase. Bought with the money my mum left me, so not blowing my (modest) inheritance on a donkey.

I definitely am a case for the rider could drop 10kgs and make the bike weight irrelevant!

Andy, i looked at the Boardman, similar budget, and sadly the men's geometry meant, even in a small, was no good for me.....
