The Pin Lady I haven't bought a saddle bag yet, but I did buy a phone holster. I assumed that it would just fit on my handlebars - but it seems like my bars are a bit thicker - so it was a real struggle getting it to fit. So my bit of advice is to check any pertinent measurements.

I always carry a couple of allen keys and an extra chain link in my little tool kit, it's worth the few grams. If you're looking for an inflation device, I recommend the Lezyne CO2 inflator, remember to get an insulating sleeve for the CO2 bulbs though.

I have a lock like this that goes easily in my back pocket and is ideal for brief stops away from the bike, like going into a cafe or shop. Not that secure but enough to stop someone just walking away with it tredz.co.uk |

Ooh I’ve been meaning to get a cafe lock too. I might send that link to family for Christmas list.

Another thought: if you're prone to breaking derailleur hangers (some people are) then I've heard of people taping a new one underneath their saddle.

The chain quick link is a good idea for longer rides. A clumsy mis-shift broke a chain at 100km to go of a 600km PBP qualifier. Shortening the chain with a quick link got me to the finish in the little chainring and with some very oily hands. I have gone off Lezyne as their pump heads are so accurately made they don't fit on all valves (some valves have a little more 'shoulder' to them which prevents the pump getting airtight). I've had the same with Boardman pumps, so I think the heads must come from the same factory. |

@fetcheveryone I was faffing for a few minutes taking the photo of the plane on the thatched roof. The bin lorry was behind me and a DPD van overtook me. Prior to that I was taking photos of the duck pond in Nort Hill I suspect you went past whilst I was taking one of the sets of photos so we didn't see each other. How funny! |

Hi Fetchies, I've been asked for an exercise bike as a Christmas present, so I thought I'd ask if anyone here has any recommendations?

what's your budget? There are full bike set-up like Watt bike but they are expensive, but if the recipient has a road bike already then you could get a trainer to use with it.

HI CW, I've just looked at the Wattbike and they are waaay outside the budget. This will be for a non-exerciser who wants to improve her fitness so we're looking at the budget end of the market.
