There's a few steps in between I hope Today I've added a new feature that lets you add exercise-friendly cafes, bakeries etc to a map: fetcheveryone.com/poi.php - it would be awesome if you could all add a few of your favourites

I've thrown a quick few on. When I get a quiet night (hah!) I'll put on some more from the area good for coffee/cake stops.

How are you getting on with the colder weather? The Met Office reckons it was 7 deg (and feeling like 5) in Bedford today. My outfit is: Helmet, obvs. Shorts Fingerless gloves. A fairly solid long sleeve top. Knee socks, but scrunched down to my ankles. Trainers That's what I've been wearing since I started cycling in earnest at the end of September. I thought it might be the first day I'd regret my choices, as my fingers and the fronts of my shins were a bit chilly in the first mile or so. But I forgot about all that, helped by a van that chose to overtake just as I went past some keep left signs. I cycled past two other cyclists, who muttered something good-natured about my bare legs and it got me wondering... are you all wrapped up in warmer stuff now? Have you retired to the turbo?

Definitely wrapped up a bit more now, but I have always found the "create your own wind chill" a factor. Decathlon liner gloves under my fingerless gloves too, altho i have warmer ones, they are bulkier. Cycling weekend daytimes only, so not enough daylight for midweek commuting. A buff under your helmet is a decent addition to the winter wear i have found. But look in the mirror as it is easy to look daft. |

It was quite cold today! My ride included a bit of Central Bedfordshire. Headwind outbound so although it was 5-6C, with windchill more like 3? Base layers: long vest, thin merino long sleeve, thicker merino long sleeve (DHB do good quality reasonable price). Fleece lined jersey 'Buff' Short finger gloves, with thermal running gloves for some of the ride Wind blocking, roubaix lined biblongs Two pairs of wool socks, one thin, one a bit thicker Toe covers It was mostly ok - my feet were really cold in the headwind though today. Gilet went on after the coffee stop. That was for a 73 mile (5 1/2 ride). When it gets really cold (-5 or so) then I stick thermal running tights over the biblongs (not the wind blocking ones). Wear fleece lined boots and very occasionally stick footwarmers in
