Once upon a time I could do the squat and cycle a mile in sub 5 mins, does that count? 1 :)

Never been a fast enough runner to get anywhere close to the run time but I do remember my run times suffering whilst powerlifting/strongmanning.

That sounds like a nice challenge in general - I wonder what the target weights for a woman would be. I've done a 108kg back squat (238pounds, but a weightlifter back squat, so deeper and high bar compared with a powerlifter). Don't know my exact mile-PR, must be around 7mins I guess.

Atm I focus mainly on weightlifting and try to avoid running, because it decreases my leg strength a lot.

Sharkie, the guy who programmes the CrossFit games made a comment about sub-5/500lb squat being kind of the ultimate example of strength and fitness across the widest range and it’s something a few people have given a try in the CrossFit world. Kline is the first to make it.

I do take you point about the decathletes although in terms of “fitness” I think the CrossFit competitions are pretty brutal and wide ranging.

Juliane, I think your last point is what makes it so impressive. Running as much as you’d need to to get a fast mile is going to have a significant impact on your squat training, and vice versa.

Doing both in a lifetime would be quite a challenge. Doing both on the same day is something else!

Goo we: I might get to squat 500lbs if you let me have plenty of reps to accumulate it! Never even got under 6 minutes for the mile and that nearly killed me!

It would be interesting with squat+longer distance (5k,10k) too, or even more interesting. A mile is still kind of short distance (of course something completely else than strength training, but closer to a sprint).

I ran a Marathon too while weightlifting (In the middle of the season :D but it was a "I once want to run a Marathon - thing, so nothing I trained for super intensively. 4:28 wasn't that bad for this weird combination, and I clean and jerked 77kg some weeks later for a +4kg PR.) , my 🏋️ coach freaked out a bit when I told him what I was doing 😅
