Zoe App has more up to date figures I think but EP is right too, ONS measures differently.

I don't trust ZOE, it has got turning points and direction of travel wrong in the past. Daily case numbers are (usually) the most reliable up-to-date indicator IMO. There's been the odd problem with those too of course.

on vaccine side effects, if you experience something you think should be reported you can do so at coronavirus-yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk - maybe if there's anything beyond the usual warning of slight fever / sore arm.

I've just booked my first jab for Saturday morning. I figured that if it does affect me, I'll only miss out on a busy day out and about.

Is Zoe app numbers not based on number of users rather than whole population? I know some areas say not enough contributors and other areas where they have enough it gives you a number of contributors and active cases show as estimated I presume based on no of contributors

Yeah, the Zoe app has a number of problems, younger profile, self reporting, that twitter link says an intersting thing, slight uptick in cases lately, people's behaviour already likely to be ahead of government restrictions, as we have all noticed.

Vaccination side-effects could be a recent issue too.

But NB I'm not saying it's necessarily wrong. Just that I don't really trust it for fine details.

Literally just as I was reading this conversation I've had an email from Zoe saying they've revised their figures downwards. "We think we've been overestimating COVID cases for just over a week. As soon as we realised this, we got to fixing the issue."
