Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I get anxiety occasionally, but generally in social situations or other times when I feel like I have little control over a situation. Covid has probably reduced it because I have more control over things now than ever before.

I think there will be people out there who are jealous (with good reason) if they genuinely feel they can't risk going to a cafe or meeting friends indoors (or even outdoors).

I have one relative who is still shielding and quarantining shopping etc and I really feel for her. She's not usually one for conspiracy theories or anything, but she has a real fear of covid and the vaccination. I try to do my best to reassure her and talk about other stuff, so she doesn't feel completely abandoned.

Had occasion to travel in a taxi for the first time since the pandemic. Oh my. Apparently the common cold will give you a positive PCR, and Omicron doesn't cause any illness at all :(

(I'm not suggesting all taxi drivers think this, just you're captive in a taxi. Dreadful)

My employer has today issued their update following the government message to WFH if you can to say that current blended working remains appropriate and safe and nothing is changing

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
Our boss that was going to have some "in office days" next week has cancelled that and everyone is staying home. Team night out for Mon night also cancelled. Def a change! So there you go, two companies, within 5 miles of each other, in similar industries and with Bazo and I in similar roles, totally different interpretations. It's a very complicated time, isn't it?! :-) G

Yep. very odd.

I was on a call yesterday and 3 folk were in the office. I jokingly asked if they had listened to Boris the night before !

To be honest its tricky, for some of my area there is a lot gloing on and its much better to be in the office. That said we manage to make it work remotely for almost 18 months.

To be fair we have individual choice and I was choosing not to go in. I wasnt going to anyway as we have building closures/moves going on so there are reduced desks and we move floors within a building and then a new building. Mt plan is to return to office 2 days per week in mid jan when we get to our actual proper location

I was just in a pub in London and lots of Christmas parties were going on. The staff said everyone was squeezing them in early. They did open the windows periodically so the place was freezing!

I thought that Scotland had a WFH policy before England?

Almost always cold where I work Fleecy!

I try very hard not to worry about the things that I can't change.

Mindfulness is good but takes a lot of practice.

V'rap - I try to gauge the length of needle to get into the muscle for each patient regardless of sex or weight but I may not be getting it right.

Office Xmas party cancelled (im inScotland) rebooked for February so I hope the venue isn’t too badly impacted (and of course that things improve so the deferral is OK). Our work has a rule of 10. So staff drinks or a meal out ok as long as numbers less than 10. Work from home if you can is reinstalled but office open (50% capacity and greater social distance measures put back in). I’m thinking that once there is better knowledge of the severity of this strain then that will drive next steps.
